Project:
Gerald R Ford International Airport- SRE (Snow Removal Equipment) Building Expansion
Location:
Grand Rapids, MI
Square Footage:
60,000SF
Industry and Building Usage:
Industrial
Budget Scope/Estimate:
$8,000,000
Project Information:
This project was unique because it was located inside the AOA (Airport Operations Area) of the Gerald R. Ford International Airport, a restricted area that required badging in/out of the jobsite. This process made for a challenging sequencing of events, particularly when it came to pouring concrete and asphalt paving where multiple truck deliveries were required to complete the task. Some of the other challenges were working with the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) and the Air Traffic Control Tower, particularly as it relates to steel erection utilizing a large crane. Being less than 1,000 ft from the primary airport runway, had it’s challenges, but the project went very well, and finished on-time and on-budget. “Thanks Amy, and once again to you, James, Ray, Nick - thanks for making this such an easy, enjoyable, timely and quality project!” Thanks Nick and James and Ray and everyone else who got the project over the finish line, including all your help and patience while we got some required work done on the existing building, in order to get the SRE approved! It really has been a pleasure working with all of you on this project. ~ Jeff Berghage, RA | Facility Designand Construction Manager
